Presidential candidate Obama has promised us "Change we can believe in." Now would have been a good oportunity for him to prove that he means it. He had a great opportunity to oppose the FISA ammendment act, but yet he responded with the same conservative bull that is handed to us by the republicans. By Obama's responses he has just proven that he dosen't care that he promised, "Change we can believe in." Looks like it would be four more years of "Politics as usual," in the Obama camp.
Obama needed to read and understand the original 1976 act before making this statement, "It restores FISA and existing criminal wiretap statutes as the exclusive means to conduct surveillance -- making it clear that the President cannot circumvent the law." Obama you fool. Let us have Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.), the most prominent Republican opponent of the compromise bill, expain to you why the "new" exclusivity provision is meaningles, "that specific provision is now in [the] 1978 act." Specter said Bush just ignored existing law in starting the warrantless surveillance program. Hey Obama! Anyone in there?
"The government already has "the authority to collect the intelligence it needs to protect the American people." That authority is called FISA, which already allows the Government extremely broad authority to spy on any suspected terrorists. The current law results in virtually no denials of any spying requests. So how can Obama -- echoing the Bush administration -- claim a new law is needed to provide "the authority to collect the intelligence we need to protect the American people" when the current FISA law already provides that?"

I am so sick and tired of un-elected bureaucrats creating laws. I belive we once had a Boston Tea Party (December 16 ,1773) to protest taxation without representation. There may yet be a modern day tea party coming. How long will you sit by and let the un-elected bureaucrats flog you?
"It would be unconstitutional for Congress to create a statute stating that it was a crime to engage in conduct forbidden by the AMA, or by particular HCBPs, or by the health care industry as a whole. This is because neither the AMA, nor the HCBPs, nor the health care industry more generally are governmental entities, and Congress does not have the power to delegate law-making authority outside of the government."
- DEFENDANTS JOINT MEMORANDUM, United States v. Stephen J. vs. Linda K. Schneider
I am reposting this dispatch word for word. Read more and be angered. We need to put an end to this kind of bull...

This blog post is for the more geek of my readers.
Google has given us JAVA developers access to their AJAX Libraries API, which is a content distribution network and loading architecture for the most popular JavaScript libraries. This means that our applications can have high speed and globally available access to libraries such as: jQuery, prototype, scrip.aculo.us, MooTools, and dojo. I'm a huge jQuery fan myself.
Check it out: http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlibs/
The great thing now is that we do not have to try to keep up with the newest releases of these libraries. All the sites that use the API will have cached these libraries. Meaning things will speed up nicely if we can convince other developers to use this API.

Data Realms has a fantastic indie game out called Cortex Command. Although it is not finished the development phase, it has some fantastic physics, and if you buy it now you get a discount, and free upgrades to the newest versions of the game. As of today the game is $18.00 and as they close in on completing the development the price is going to go up to about $38.00.
Check it out for yourself, it is way cool.

Netflix for the TV
A new Netflix Player device by Roku that can connect to your TV to Netflix via your LAN. It shows your Netflix instant watching queue, so it is super simple to use. Select the move or TV show and it plays it through your TV.
The harder way to Play Netflix through your TV (The way I do it with one of my TVs)
I currently have an S-video cable running from my graphics card into a converter box, which has a coaxial cable running the 50 feet to my TV. My TV is setup as a second monitor and I wrote a program that helps in aligning everything on the TV, and helps with selecting and playing movies. In addition, this program also plays entire seasons of South Park, which is completely free, from SouthParkStudios.com without me ever having to walk back over to the computer.
Fantastic Deal for an Easy Connection
At around $100 for the Roku Netflix Player this is a fantastic deal. I slap this baby on my living room TV and now I have entirly new options for guests when they visit. I can also take it over to friends houses for movie nights. The possibilities are huge.
As a SciFi, Anime, and Fantasy movie fan, I can always find something on Netflix Watch Now, either movies or TV shows. I can even stop it and come back later, and the show will start where I left it. The cheapest service with unlimited watch now is around $9.00 a month, way cheap.

I had a camp director once that made a redneck swimming pool. One of the staff members opened the tail gate while the camp director was "swimming."

I updated the backend code of the site today. Added some things to security and performance. I still have to redo the way the animations are shown in my Portfolio Art Gallery, and redo the dofollow for my comments, but that should be done within the next week or so.
Finished the layout of my blog posts and unified how the latest blog post looks my home page with the way all the blog posts look in the blog section.

Since I bike commute over eight miles a day, I wanted a more relaxed bicycle ride. I looked at buying some used cruisers but in the end I altered a few things on my 1991 Giant Butte mountain bike and turned it into a 21 speed cruiser. I bought a set of boardwalk cruiser handlebars ($20), added a used Nitto Tall Technomic Stem ($6), some handlebar shims ($2) to get the 22.2mm diameter of the handlebars to fit the stem's 25.4mm clamp, and a new seat ($30). In addition, I had to run new break and gear cables and cable housing ($12). The total conversion cost about $70 and took only a few hours. The Geax Laczem tires I put on the bike were given to me, and actually smooth out the ride nicely. I recommend these tires if you are only riding your MTB on roads.

The Giant Butte turned Cruiser
If you have an old MTB sitting around that no one is riding, maybe try converting it into a cruiser and bring that youthful joy of riding back into the bike. I recommend a nice big set of handlebars accompanied by a nice comfy big seat.

These handlebars are huge
At some point I would like to add some fenders, but that is a task for a later day.
